The Mon Far Mountain Resort is situated 15 km from Chiang Rai City within easy reach of Chiang Mai - the ancient capitol of Siam and a short distance from the Mekong River where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet.

This area, known as the Golden Triangle, was once a world centre for the illegal drugs trade but with the introduction of the Thai Royal Project, sponsored and financed by the Thai Royal Family, who introduced Mediterranean style agriculture to the farming community, this has now all but disappeared.
